 LARK
FIELD
HOUSE

The new owners of the Larkfield property asked us to create a serene oasis, that would inspire contemplative reflection. A dream job!

We chose warm, earthy hardscape materials and drought tolerant, sustainable plants as our palette. Our hope was to paint a vignette that blended with the indigenous environment, and would lure you to come sit and enjoy. The koi pond acted as an anchor, and asked for a hardscape that invited exploration. We melded rough and rugged boulders with smooth river rocks to elevate its borders and surround the planters abounding in succulents. Blue flagstone laid in a bed of sand and nestled within a sea of multicolored pea gravel offers an open and fluid patio experience. Benches, tables and hopefully a hammock will eventually grace this space.

As the garden matures, orange honey suckle will blanket the stone wall. Conical blue echium blossoms will reach for the sky, and the yellow Jerusalem sage flowers will lure butterflies and humming birds to the garden.

We included two palo verde trees that will eventually offer respite from afternoon sun in their dappled shade.

We are extremely pleased with the breathtaking creation.
